Puerto Rican fighter Amanda Serrano successfully defended her WBA and WBO featherweight world championship titles on Friday evening, securing her 50th career professional victory against Argentine challenger Lucrecia Manzur in Temecula, California. The bout established a new precedent in digital sports broadcasting as the first world title main event live-streamed on the social media platform TikTok, drawing a recorded total of 3.4 million views during the broadcast.

Serrano, aged 37, claimed the victory via a narrow majority decision following 12 two-minute rounds of competition. Two ring judges scored the fight 116-112 in favor of the defending champion, while the third judge saw the contest as a 114-114 draw. Manzur, who at 27 years old entered the ring a decade younger than the champion, troubled Serrano during the opening rounds by landing frequent right hands.

As the match progressed into the later stages, the Argentine challenger began to fatigue. Serrano capitalized on the shift, seizing momentum starting in the ninth round and maintaining control through the conclusion of the final round. However, Serrano was unable to deliver a stoppage victory before the final bell sounded.

The full-distance result leaves Serrano with 32 career knockouts, keeping her tied with boxing legend Christy Martin for the highest number of knockouts in women’s professional boxing history. Achieving a stoppage against Manzur would have given Serrano her 33rd knockout, establishing a sole record.

Following the match, Serrano reflected on the significance of the event, stating that she was “super excited, super honoured” to take part in the pioneering digital broadcast. Speaking about her challenger’s effort, Serrano admitted she prepared extensively for a hungry opponent, noting, “These girls are getting younger and stronger.”

In subsequent statements posted to social media, Serrano discussed the impact of age on her physical performance, writing that “Father Time isn’t allowing too much of that.” The unified featherweight champion announced plans to confer with her management team before deciding on her next move. She intends to stage a farewell fight in Puerto Rico either later this year or in early 2027, where she hopes to secure a 33rd career stoppage.

The event’s undercard featured another world championship contest, in which Danish boxer Melissa Mortensen captured her first world title. Mortensen defeated Mexico’s Mayelli Flores on points to claim the vacant WBA super-bantamweight title.
