A charity operating in southeastern England is holding a live music event on Saturday to fund festive meal kits and children’s gifts for low-income families.

The Greenaway Foundation is staging its annual Greenaway Live concert at Crawley Rugby Club starting at 15:00 BST. Revenue generated from ticket sales will directly fund the organization’s holiday programs across Kent, Sussex, and Surrey.

The foundation distributes ingredients for a two-course Christmas meal to households facing financial hardship. Children from eligible low-income families are also invited to submit gift requests, which charity workers deliver to homes on Christmas Eve. Darren Greenaway, who founded the organization, noted that the holiday initiative is expanding, stating that “this year we need to raise about £200,000.” The charity estimates it will assist over 1,000 families in 2026.

All performing artists are participating in the benefit concert without compensation. Describing the setup, Greenaway stated, “All the live acts are donating their time for free, so it’s a mini Live Aid.” The event, which was first held in 2025, is also being broadcast live on the organization’s social media platforms.

Background

Seasonal charity drives and food distribution programs routinely operate across the United Kingdom during the winter holidays to support families affected by low incomes and high living costs. Voluntary groups frequently rely on community fundraisers and public donations to supply holiday packages and presents directly to local residents.
