A 24-year-old Philadelphia man has been arrested and charged with multiple felony offenses in connection with a series of residential burglaries, including an attempted break-in at a home linked to professional American football player Saquon Barkley. Law enforcement officials arrested the suspect, identified as Jabir Parker, on Tuesday following a multi-agency investigation.

Arrest and Charges

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office announced the arrest on Wednesday, stating that Parker was taken into custody by the Lower Merion Police Department. The operation involved assistance from federal and state authorities, including FBI SWAT units, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Philadelphia Police Department, and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.

Parker faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and the criminal use of a communications facility. He is currently being held on $1 million bail.

Incident Details

The attempted break-in at the residence occurred on July 18 while the home was occupied. Barkley, a running back for the Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football League, and his family were inside the house at the time of the event. Official statements confirm that no injuries were reported.

While the Montgomery County District Attorney’s official release did not formally identify the owner of the target property, local media outlets in Philadelphia reported that the residence belongs to Barkley and his family, citing anonymous sources familiar with the matter.

Broader Investigation

In addition to the attempted break-in at the athlete’s home, prosecutors allege that Parker burglarized two other residences in the area. Items stolen during those break-ins included a safe and jewelry estimated to be worth nearly $800,000.

Investigators relied on a combination of digital evidence and witness accounts to identify the suspect, incorporating cellphone location records, security camera footage, and interviews. Authorities noted that the investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement continues to search for additional suspects believed to be involved in the burglary scheme.
