Florida State Record 3-3 (1-2 ACC)
Louisville Record 3-3 (2-2 ACC)

Louisville staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Florida State 44-20 on Friday night, overcoming an early two-touchdown deficit to dominate the final three quarters. The loss marked Florida State’s 11th consecutive defeat in true road games, increasing public pressure on head coach Mike Norvell.

Momentum Shifts at the Goal Line

Florida State built an early 14-0 lead and was positioned to extend its advantage inside Louisville territory. However, defensive back Kaleb Beasley stopped Florida State wide receiver Jasen Lopez at the 3-yard line on a fourth-and-goal play. On the very next play, Louisville running back Isaac Brown broke free for a 97-yard touchdown run to turn the momentum in favor of the home team.

Following that goal-line intervention, Louisville controlled the rest of the game, outgaining Florida State 438 yards to 190 over the remainder of the match. Louisville compiled 537 total yards on the night, including 397 yards on the ground, where all six of their touchdowns were scored. The performance occurred despite missing Keyjuan Brown, the team’s leading rusher this season, who was sidelined with an injury.

Second-Half Surge and Player Stats

Louisville took control immediately after halftime when Isaac Brown returned the opening kickoff 71 yards to the Florida State 28-yard line, a play extended further by a horse-collar tackle penalty against the defense. Four plays later, quarterback Lincoln Kienholz scored on a 3-yard run to give Louisville a 21-14 lead. Kienholz finished with two rushing touchdowns on the night, while Brown capped a career-high 235-yard rushing game with a 68-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

For Florida State, quarterback Ashton Daniels completed 21 of 37 pass attempts for 209 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing score. The Seminoles accumulated 362 total offensive yards, but their offense stalled after the early surge.

Norvell Accepts Responsibility

Addressing reporters after the match, Florida State head coach Mike Norvell accepted blame for the team’s road struggles. Norvell called the team’s outing “An extremely poor performance by us” and noted that “It starts with me.”

Norvell indicated that lapses in detail, discipline, and execution allowed Louisville’s big-play threats to take over the game. Reflecting on the result, he stated that “It was incredibly disappointing.” The defeat ended Florida State’s brief two-game winning streak and brought their record to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, matching Louisville’s 3-3 overall record.
