Miyu Yamashita Matches LPGA Scoring Record to Win CPKC Women’s Open

Japanese golfer Miyu Yamashita secured a nine-stroke victory at the CPKC Women’s Open in Canada on Sunday, matching the record for the lowest 72-hole total score in the history of the LPGA Tour.

The 25-year-old closed her tournament at the Royal Mayfair course by posting a four-under-par round of 66. Yamashita capped off the week by rolling in an eight-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole, concluding four days of play with an overall score of 23-under-par 257.

By reaching 257 strokes, Yamashita equalled the LPGA Tour’s lowest 72-hole aggregate score, a mark set by South Korea’s Kim Sei-young at the Thornberry Creek tournament in 2018. While Kim finished 31-under par during her record-setting week eight years earlier, Yamashita reached the same stroke total at 23-under par.

In addition to matching the tour-wide record, Yamashita set a new scoring benchmark for the CPKC Women’s Open itself. Her 257 total surpassed the previous tournament record of 262, which was established by South Korea’s Ko Jin-young in 2019.

Yamashita controlled the competition throughout the week, holding the lead from the opening round. She entered Sunday’s final round with a six-shot cushion over her nearest competitors before building an even larger advantage during her closing round. Her final-round 66 featured six birdies, allowing her to pull nine strokes clear of the field by the finish.

Fellow Japanese competitor Yuri Yoshida finished in second place at 14-under par, nine strokes behind the winner. Kim, who previously held sole ownership of the 257 tour record, finished third at 13-under par. A three-way tie for fourth place at 12-under par included G Kim of the United States, Yin of China, and Huang of Canada.

The triumph in Canada is Yamashita’s fourth LPGA Tour title within the past 13 months. It also marks her second tournament victory of the 2026 season, following a win at the Meijer Classic in June.

Yamashita was previously named the LPGA Tour’s rookie of the year for 2025, a season in which she captured her first career major championship at the Women’s Open.
