Former champion partners Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram secured a spot in the US Open men’s doubles semi-finals by defeating last year’s winners, Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos, in straight sets. The victory keeps the pair on track for a fourth title together in New York following their reunion earlier this season.
Salisbury, representing Great Britain, and Ram, from the United States, recorded a 6-4 6-4 win over the tournament’s second seeds. The pair previously won three consecutive titles at Flushing Meadows between 2021 and 2023 before temporarily ending their partnership during 2024.
Men’s Semi-Final Lineup
In Thursday’s semi-final round, Salisbury and Ram will play German duo Kevin Krawietz and Tim Putz, who reached the final of the tournament in 2024.
On the other side of the men’s draw, top seeds and reigning Wimbledon champions Henry Patten of Great Britain and Harri Heliovaara of Finland advanced after overcoming a difficult match. Patten and Heliovaara failed to convert four set points in their opening set and had to save three match points in the second before closing out a 6-7 (7-9) 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 victory against seventh seeds Manuel Guinard and Guido Andreozzi.
Patten and Heliovaara will contend their semi-final against Briton Neal Skupski and American Christian Harrison, who earned their spot by defeating Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori 6-3 6-2.
Women’s Final Set
The women’s doubles draw saw top seeds Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic and Taylor Townsend of the United States advance to the final with a 6-0 7-6 (10-8) victory over Diana Shnaider and Elise Mertens. Siniakova and Townsend are one win away from completing a joint career Grand Slam by winning all four major titles together.
They will meet unseeded Americans Robin Montgomery and Ashlyn Krueger in Friday’s final. Montgomery and Krueger saved three match points and rallied from 8-2 behind in the deciding match tie-break to overcome second seeds Luisa Stefani and Gabriella Dabrowski 4-6 6-4 7-6 (10-8).
Background
Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram established one of the most successful men’s doubles teams of recent years, claiming three consecutive US Open trophies from 2021 through 2023 alongside an Australian Open title. After competing separately in 2024, the pair reunited in 2025 to resume their Grand Slam partnership.
