How to Watch Sunday Night Football in 2026

Sunday Night Football remains the NFL’s biggest weekly television window, and for the 2026 season the arrangement is straightforward: every game airs on NBC and streams on Peacock, kicking off at 8:20 PM Eastern.

That consistency is the useful part. Unlike Sunday afternoon games, which are split between networks and shuffled by market, Sunday night is one game, one channel, one time, everywhere in the country.

Kickoff time in every timezone

Every Sunday night game starts at 8:20 PM ET. That works out as:

• 7:20 PM Central
• 6:20 PM Mountain
• 5:20 PM Pacific

Arizona is the exception worth knowing about, since it doesn’t observe daylight saving. Kickoff there is 5:20 PM local until 1 November, then 6:20 PM after the rest of the country falls back. Alaska sees 4:20 PM, Hawaii 3:20 PM.

Where to watch

On television, Sunday Night Football is on NBC. It’s a broadcast network, which means an over-the-air antenna picks it up free in most of the country — genuinely the cheapest legal way to watch, and worth knowing before paying for anything.

Streaming, every game is on Peacock, NBC’s own service. Peacock also carries the pregame show and the playoff games NBC airs.

In Spanish, Telemundo Deportes carries every Sunday night game across Telemundo and Universo.

What NBC is showing this season

NBC’s 2026 slate is larger than “Sunday nights” suggests. Across the season the network carries 22 regular-season games plus three playoff matchups: 18 Sunday night games, the Wednesday season opener, a Thanksgiving night game, and a late-afternoon Week 17 fixture.

The season opener was a Super Bowl LX rematch — the New England Patriots visiting the champion Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday, 9 September, in NBC’s 21st consecutive season opening the year. It’s only the third Week 1 Super Bowl rematch in league history.

The first Sunday night game proper followed on 13 September, with the Dallas Cowboys at the New York Giants.

Thanksgiving night, 26 November, brings what NBC has been calling the rivalry of the decade: Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs visiting Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. It’s the first Thanksgiving game ever played in Buffalo, and the eleventh meeting between the two teams since 2020.

Other marquee fixtures include the Cowboys at the Green Bay Packers on 18 October, the Colts at the Chiefs in Week 2, and the Rams at the Broncos in Week 3.

Flexible scheduling changes things after Week 5

Here’s the part most people miss. The Sunday night matchup you see listed in September isn’t guaranteed to be the game that airs.

From Week 5 onward, the NFL uses flexible scheduling to move games in and out of the Sunday night slot based on what’s actually at stake. A fixture between two teams struggling in October can be swapped out for one with playoff implications.

This season the league can use flex twice between Weeks 5 and 10, and at its discretion from Weeks 11 through 17. Changes are usually announced around 12 days ahead, though late in the season that window can shorten.

The practical advice: check the schedule again in the week of the game rather than relying on a listing you saw in the summer.

Weeks 16 and 17 work differently

Both weeks break the usual pattern, and they’re worth flagging separately.

Week 16 sees two of four designated matchups moved to Saturday, at 4:30 PM ET and 8:00 PM ET on NFL Network. The rest land in the usual Thursday, Sunday or Monday windows. Specific dates aren’t confirmed until after Week 14.

Week 17 has two matchups on Saturday, 2 January 2027 — one at 4:30 PM ET on NBC, and one at 8:00 PM ET that streams exclusively on Peacock. That second one has no television broadcast at all. If you follow one of the teams involved, a Peacock subscription is the only way to watch it.

The broadcast team
