Mexican Law Enforcement Rescues 8 Held by Cartel

Mexican law enforcement officers rescued eight individuals who had been forcibly recruited and held captive by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, state authorities announced. The raid occurred on September 6, 2026, at a secret medical facility on a farm in Tecalitlan, a municipality approximately 160 kilometers (100 miles) from Guadalajara.

Police discovered the compound while investigating the disappearance of a 20-year-old man who went missing in late July 2026. The missing individual had left his home in Tlaquepaque in a taxi after seeking to accept what he believed was a job offer at a farm.

Conditions at the Secret Facility

Images released by state prosecutors revealed dimly lit rooms containing mattresses placed on the floor and stained walls. Investigators also found a cap featuring an image of Jesus Malverde, a folk figure commonly worshipped by drug traffickers.

Jalisco State Prosecutor Salvador Gonzalez stated that the site served as a shelter for conscripted individuals who were injured while performing forced tasks for organised crime. Gonzalez confirmed that the victims “had been deprived of their freedom” while receiving care at the property.

Rescues, Arrests, and Confiscations

Two of the rescued individuals were using crutches when security forces reached the site. Alongside freeing the eight captives, law enforcement officers confiscated illegal drugs, weapons, and ammunition.

Security forces arrested six suspected guards at the scene. Officials stated that the detained suspects range in age from 21 to 48 years old.
